Downloading and Connecting the uPASS Reach to the UHF Tool

Out of the box the reader comes set at max read range and set to output Standard Wiegand Protocol. The UHFTool is used to make slight adjustments (shorten the read range, only identify Nedap tags, adjust RF off time for readers in close proximity, set up an extra Output, etc.)

1. Obtain a USB cord.

2. Install the UHF TOOL

3. Download Driver: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21224_Setup.zip

• Download and extract (once extracted, the driver is on your computer and will recognize your Com Port)

• Go to your Device manager and confirm Com Ports (Ports (COM & LPT)

• Continue to back

4. Plug in the USB cable

5. Open UHFTool and connect

• Select the connect icon and enter/select your COM Port.

• Baud rate should be 9600

• Communication protocol is Standard.

• Click “OK’.

6. Update Firmware if desired

• If an older firmware is detected on the reader, the UHFTool will recommend a firmware update (no internet connection needed.)

• Select “Yes” on Read configuration settings from reader now

• When connected the lower righthand corner will tell you the Com, The reader type, and the firmware version.

7. Make the desired adjustments

• Upon making adjustments you will need to click “set” for the changes to take effect.
